Alvin T McRae Jr. is currently a Data Analyst at Bloomberg L.P. working with the Structured Products Department which is commonly known as Mortgages. Alvin has been at the company for approximately three years and has partnered with many departments within Global Data to enhance the client experience.
Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, Alvin was always drawn towards mathematics and STEM subject matters. As a result, he majored in Mathematics at Dickinson College with a minor in Africana Studies. Upon his graduation from Dickinson, he joined the 2017 Teach for America Corps. He was placed in Baltimore, MD where he taught 8th-grade math for 4 years and gained his teaching certification from Johns Hopkins University.
After 4 years of teaching, Alvin wanted to pivot into the field of finance. He believed that attaining an MBA degree was the best way to acquire the skills to make this change possible. During his research, he realized that the TCNJ MBA Business Analytics Program was the best option for him due to its hybrid structure, rigorous but reasonable course load, and affordable tuition. Once accepted, he was able to leverage the program’s curriculum while applying to positions in finance and data analytics. This allowed him to adequately market himself and gain a role at the largest financial tech company in the world, Bloomberg L.P.
